Process & Functional Safety Workshops

Training Workshops, Blended Learning Workshops & Masterclasses

Abhisam conducts highly specialized  Training Workshops & Masterclasses . You can find the current training calendar here. Note that each of these can also be conducted at your site/office/location. Ask us for details.

Many Abhisam workshops are in the blended learning format. This means that participants attend the classroom style workshop on the allotted dates and after completion, can access the online blended learning versions of these classes from anywhere. This helps them reinforce concepts that they learned in the face to face workshop and retain the knowledge and skills gained.

Note that Blended Learning and E-learning XPRTU based courses are not the same.

What's the difference between Blended Learning Workshops, traditional workshops and E-learning XPRTUs?

Blended learning is a blend of face to face training led by a lead instructor and access to blended learning modules that reinforce the training. At the end of the blended learning workshop, participants get a Certificate of Completion. They can opt to obtain a higher rated Certificate of Competency and electronic badge (depending on the course)

On the other hand, Abhisam E-learning XPRTU courses are completely standalone, self study courses, that require no instructors. This is because of the way that they are designed, which includes animations and simulations, text, videos, graphics, real life examples and assessments/exercises. After the learner accesses the modules in the course, they can take the Abhisam online exam and on passing, earn a Certificate of Competency OR a Certificate of Completion (based on the course), alongwith an electronic badge issued via Credly.

Traditional Classroom training workshops on the other hand are just that, learners attend the face to face workshop led by an experienced instructor, get access to the printed training material and get a Certificate of Completion.

When & Where are these workshops held?

The latest calendar can be found here. These workshops are held at multiple locations and times. You can elect to sign up for a location that is convenient to you. Of course, you can also contact us to arrange these at your own workplace/site/office OR simply buy the e-learning XPRTU based training, where you need not travel anywhere.

BLW 201- Hazardous Area & ATEX Training

Hazardous Areas are those areas of plants or facilities where there is a risk of explosion due to flammable, volatile liquids & vapors, as also explosive dusts. Thus hazardous areas are present in Oil & Gas exploration & production, oil refining, petrochemical plants, chemical plants, fertilizer plants, shipping terminals and ships that carry hydrocarbons, large agricultural processing and storage plants, power plants, natural gas production and processing facilities and many more. The design of equipment and instrumentation/electrical devices in such areas has to be suitable for use in these areas. The Hazardous Area Training workshop will cover all the information and techniques that you need to keep these areas safe to operate.

This training program enables participants, to learn all about Hazardous Areas including the basic concepts of hazardous areas, area classification concepts and methods, material and temperature classification, standards (North American & European/IEC/ATEX), how to implement these in YOUR plant or facility,  do practical exercises in area classification. Learn from leading Industry experts and interact with them.

This workshop also covers Hazardous Area Instrumentation & Hazardous Area Equipment including ATEX Non-Electrical Equipment. It includes the basics of explosion protection, various methods of explosion protection including Explosionproof/Flameproof, Intrinsic Safety, Increased Safety, Non Incendive and more. Learn about applicable national and international standards, design and installation of hazardous area instrumentation, ATEX & IEC-Ex guidelines, maintenance and inspection, labelling of equipment, precautions to maintain the explosion protected design. For more details please see here.

BLW 202 - HAZOP  & CHAZOP Training

HAZOP stands for Hazard and Operability Study and is one of the most popular Risk Assessment techniques in use today in industries such as Chemicals, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical manufacturing and other similar process industries. The methods that were developed are now in use in other engineering sectors too, such as in Electrical HAZOP and Software HAZOP. However this classroom training workshop is focused on the process industry sector and is highly detailed and intensive. It also covers CHAZOP (Computer HAZOP or Control HAZOP), that is now even more important due to to increased reliance on computerized control systems such as DCS, PLC/SCADA and SIS, which are themselves vulnerable to cyber attacks.

Led by leading industry professionals with individual experiences of at least 25 years, this is a great way to learn about HAZOP & CHAZOP, if you have the time and inclination to spend two days in a classroom type setting. You not only learn about this from the experts, but you can also ask them questions about the problems that you faced while carrying out safety and risk assessment studies in your earlier projects. More information here.

Have you taken a look at our software based training course on HAZOP? Check it out here. Study at your own pace, in the comfort of your home or office. This is NOT just a video lecture, but an e-learning, software based training program.

BLW 203- Industrial Toxicology Workshop

Industrial Processes often use materials that may be toxic to humans and the environment. This Blended Learning workshop helps you learn about the field in depth and how you can design, implement and maintain industrial plants and processes in a manner that they are safe to operate and maintain, even if they process materials that are toxic in nature.  You will learn how toxicants affect humans, how they enter & exit the human body, or get stored in it, what kind of effects they can have on health, how to understand toxicology terms such as LD50 and more that you will come across on Safety Data Sheets, how to do toxicology related calculations and more. For more details please click here.

Cannot attend this workshop? Then why not enroll into our e-learning XPRTU course and learn everything in the comfort of your home or office or anywhere else? Please see here for details.

BLW 204- Industrial Hygiene Training

Industrial Hygiene deals with the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, prevention, and control of environmental factors and stresses arising  from the workplace which may cause sickness, impaired health and well being of workers. Understanding IH is very important for any Industrial professional who is concerned with the health and safety of workers in any industry. This classroom style workshop is an easy way to learn all bout this important subkect from industry professionals who have decades of experience in industries that deal with hazardous materials and difficult workplace conditions such as dusty atmospheres, high noise levels and other factors, that have significant Industrial Hygiene aspects.

BLW 105- Understanding Fire & Explosion Fundamentals

Fires and Explosion hazards are major incidents that can disrupt a company's operations completely and in some cases, even bankrupt it. Thus these risks need to be thoroughly understood. This training course helps you understand the mechanisms by which fires and explosions can occur. This gives you a greater insight into how you can design your processes and facilities to avoid them or in case they occur, how to mitigate the effects as much as possible.

BLW 205- Preventing Fires and Explosions Training

Preventing Fires and Explosions is the only way of dealing with the risk of fire/explosion in many industries, because once such an incident occurs, it causes widespread destruction and damage to people, assets and the environment. This training course is an indepth workshop conducted by professionals from industry who have a vast experience in designing and installing systems and processes that reduce the risk of fires and explosions to a very low number.  Note that this training can only be attended after completing Workshop BLW 105 which deals with the basics of fires and explosions.

This classroom style face to face training workshop is led by industry professionals who have a deep understanding and knowledge of the subject. More details here.

BLW 207 - GHS ( Globally Harmonized System) Training

GHS is an acronym that stands for Globally Harmonized System for the Classification and Labeling of Chemicals. It is a system developed by the United Nations and is now GHS defines and classifies the hazards of chemical products, and communicates health and safety information on labels and safety data sheets. The goal  is to have same set of rules for classifying hazards, same format and content for labels and safety data sheets (SDS) that will be adopted and used around the world.

Although GHS is a 'non-binding' system of hazard communication developed by United Nations, it has become mandatory in many countries around the world including OECD countries. The latest revision to this was released in August 2019 and it is known as Revision 8. This workshop will give you a comprehensive understanding of this system and the latest changes to it, so that your organization can easily comply with it. More details here.
